Avatar the Legend of Korra is an American animated television series that was created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino as a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. It follows the adventures of Avatar Korra, an Avatar after Aang from the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, as she deals with political and social issues, internal conflicts, and her own learning curve. A new version of this show is released each season on Nickelodeon's American sister networks. Season two of the series was put on hold so that Konietzko and DiMartino could focus on The Legend of Korra: Enhanced Experience. Book Two: Spirits picks up where Book One ended, with Korra moving to Republic City in order to learn airbending from Tenzin, her father's brother. She becomes a contemporary icon for the city's large population of immigrants and must deal with some of the problems facing Republic City and its people. This season features the voice talents of Janet Varney as Korra and David Faustino as Mako. On June 23, 2013, Nickelodeon announced it had greenlit a second season for Airbender under the name "Avatar: The Legend of Korra". Konietzko and DiMartino returned as creators and writers, with Tim Hedrick as a writer. The series premiered on April 14, 2014, with a special preview presentation on Nickelodeon on November 27, 2013. It ran for 22 episodes. Book Three: Change picks up exactly where Book Two left off. In the Earth Kingdom, most of its people have been driven from their homes due to the Red Lotus' extermination campaign; however, Korra and her friends must fight even harder against the rule of the new Fire Lord Ozai and his family right at home. This season features the voice talents of Janet Varney as Korra and David Faustino as Mako. On April 15, 2014, Nickelodeon announced that a third season had been ordered for "Avatar: The Legend of Korra". The third season is titled "Book Three: Change". Konietzko and DiMartino returned as executive producers and co-creators, with Joaquim Dos Santos as a co-producer, director, and art director. Mike DiMartino is the lead creative director of the series. Production initially began on July 2, 2014. Book Four: Balance was released on November 20, 2017. It features the voice talents of Janet Varney as Korra and David Faustino as Mako. The first two seasons of "The Legend of Korra" received largely positive critical reception. The series has a rating of 8.3 on IMDb, based on over 10,000 votes. Common Sense Media awarded the show 5 stars and named it the best TV show for kids.
